hey guys,it’s me – lyonel. today i want to show you how we can use textured walls, like this one, in a shooting, to make pictures like this one. let's go! structures in the background textured walls are universally usable, that’s why i wanted to have one, as we moved into the studio. i use this wall very often, you can use it for portrait shootings, fashion photography or whatever you like. here we had a shooting for the designer alexandra fuchs. we positioned luiza in front of the wall. with the soft and areal light, like we’re having it right now, this doesn’t look too exciting, but it already has its own look. when we use a light source that is more directed, like a beautydish with grid, then the structure will show off nicely.

this background is so universally usable, because it’s neutral, it’s gray, but offers more texture in the background, which makes it more interesting and spatial and also scenic for shootings. by the way, if you want to know what technique i used to make this textured plaster, then take a look into the description. i made a special video on how to do this, if you want to have such a wall. the most exciting thing about such a wall is that it always looks different, depending on the light setting. you’ve seen it, how it looks in a soft light setting, like here, while i’m talking to you and how it looked with directed light, like the shooting with luiza. with amelie we played a bit more with the lighting. we had a lingerie shooting with her and used a three spot light set up. the beautydish with grid from the front and two external flashes with color foils to her left and right in blue and red. what then happened is a beautiful play of colors. wrap up what we need for such a shooting.

1. a textured wall. this can be everything that isn’t completely flat and has little uprisings, f.x. a cliff or a wall in an old warehouse, a wooden wall or like here this structured plaster. 2. creative use of light. try different sorts of light and how they look on the background. use soft light, directed light and try what happens if you use several lights or colors. 3. you can use such walls universally. they are good for portraits, half body shots, but of course also for whole- body shots. this wall is really handy. i hope these tips were helpful for you and i could inspire you. if you liked this video then click on subscribe or give me a thumbs up. if you have any questions, feel free to ask in the comments. see you next time! bye.
