the chance for people to drive their vintage andmodern classic cars through the kahlgrund, to take part in an organised drive. the course begins in schã¶llkrippen and goesthrough the kahlgrund and the western spessart; that is, through beautifuland often hilly forests. just before they go to the start, the participants have the itineraryand the rules explained to them. hufgard: the tasks are compiledin a log book, and following the log book,following these instructions, participants drive a specific route.
we use officials with stamps, or silent observers — that is,little signs with letters or numbers, to be entered into a log book,to keep check. narrator: in fact, there are two log books. one is for the tourist class, and contains exact detailsof which direction to take at each junction. the other is for theso-called “orienteering classâ€, and contains only clues: for those participants, then, wholike an intellectual challenge.
an old car is not easy to drive, costs money, and spare parts are also hard to find. why would anyone want to do all this? we do all this basically... ...for fun and games, the pleasure ofbeing able to drive a car, an old car, as part of a community, to meet other people, and... ...just to be able to drive through thespessart and the local area on a sunday. so, it’s a hobby for those withthe right amount of money and know-how,
